Amazing stay yet again at Assheton Arms.
Can’t beat the peaceful tranquil location, or the hospitality of the team. Nothing is too much for them.
Good amazing too.

Spotless rooms, warm welcome, good food.
Traditional English pub atmosphere - log fire, good beer/wine, relaxed.

Setting was idylic, bar area was cosy and warm especially when log fire was burning. Staff very welcoming and charming. Restuarant lovely and food excellent, limited menu but prepared fresh.
Rooms very quaint, little one bedroom cottage, lounge area downstairs with Tv and upstairs a bedroom and bathroom with large bath and powerful shower.

The room was clean and spacious, the staff were very welcoming and offered a great service.
The food was delicious!

Lovely room and facilities. We also had an evening meal which was delicious. I certainly would recommend.

Some things great, some not so great
Great food and beautiful setting. Staff were a bit cold at times and less than attentive, but nothing that warrants an outright complaint. Room was sweltering in the night (stayed in August), and we had no way of asking for a fan. Might be worth asking for one as you check in.

Could be better
Upon arrival, the pub look magnificent in the afternoon sunshine but the welcome, after my long trip, was non existent. I was pointed in the direction of my room that was located in different building. The room was nicely appointed but the exterior wall in the bathroom had a serious fault in the plasterwork which demonstrated a lack of care or attention to detail. The damp issue had obviously been around for a long time!
Dinner was ok but with a little finesse it could have been much better. The standard of service was best described as disinterested. Breakfast was very good.
The setting of the Asseton Arms is delightful and I would possibly stay again

Exceeded expectations
Really lovely pub in the quiet hamlet of DOWNHAM. Beautiful countryside and a great view from the much bigger than expected room.

Good location in the shadow of Pendle Hill (well worth the climb). Our room was off site next door which we didn’t expect, luckily the weather was dry.
Bar service was hampered by staff shortage it seemed, but friendly. Food was mixed, we enjoyed one dinner but not a second one.
